Testing your Thunder
After you've been through your Unboxing Ritual of your new Thunder alarm, follow the below steps to make sure your personal safety alarm is in perfect condition.
1. Test the Gear Protection Mode™
2. Test the Manual Activation of your Personal Alarm
3. Test the LED Light and Strobe functions
4. Check the charging of your Alarm
Gear Protection Mode™
- To test the functionality of your Gear Protection Mode™, simply press and hold the LED button at the bottom of your Personal Alarm for 3 seconds, until you hear a BEEP.
- You will have 8 seconds to place your Thunder in a steady position, like on your laptop, backpack, travel bag, next to a door or window, or you name it.
- The Alarm will flash once which tells you that the Gear Protection Mode™ sensor is activated.
- Slightly move it and the Alarm will start blaring and flashing until you stop it by pressing once on the LED button.
Manual Activation
- To Manually Activate your Personal Alarm, you have to pull the ring at its top.
- That will instantly activate the Alarm, making yourself heard and seen by the deafening sound and strobing light.
- The only way to turn off the alarm is to insert the ring back, which means you will always be in control.
LED Light and Strobe
- Another handy feature of your Thunder is the LED light which can be activated by pressing once on the LED button situated at the bottom of your alarm, next to the charging port.
- Pressing the LED button a second time will activate the strobe function which is helpful when you want to make yourself visible at night.
- A third press on the LED button will simply turn off the light.
Charging
- In your sleek box, under the Alarm, there is a USB-C cable to charge your Thunder.
- At the bottom of the Alarm you will see the charging port. Simply plug the cable in your Alarm and into your laptop or USB socket.
- Next to the USB-C port on your Thunder you will also see a RED light indicating that the Alarm is charging.
- Charging time is under 2 hours for a dead battery. You will know that the battery is fully charged when the RED light at the bottom of the alarm turns off.
Quality of Life Features
Sound
- The powerful sound is the main asset of your Thunder and to put a value to it, it is up to 140 decibels(dB)
- Decibel is a unit of measurement used to express the intensity of sound. A higher dB value indicates a louder sound. 0dB represents no sound for the human hearing threshold while 60-70dB represent the sound intensity of a normal conversation.
- To put matters into perspective, a nearby thunder would have a sound intensity between 120 and 130dB, so your Personal Alarm name is slightly underrated for its actual capability.
Light
- Without lightning, there is no Thunder.
- Light is the second best asset of your Personal Alarm. With its 1W LED light, you can easily find your way around poorly lit streets, while you're camping or when searching for your forgotten dreams under the bed.
- A 1W (Watt) LED is quite efficient, producing around 100 lumens of light, and is much brighter than traditional light sources with the same power consumption.
- Be careful though, not to look straight into the light as it is powerful enough to give you a headache.
Cleaning
- Take good care of your Thunder so it takes care of you.
- Clean your Personal Alarm to keep it in optimal condition. If the outside of the Alarm gets dirty, wipe it clean with a soft dry cloth.
- If needed, lightly dampen the cloth with water (but not soaking wet). Ensure no moisture gets into any openings like the speaker, buttons, or charging port.
- Don’t use strong cleaning agents such as bleach, alcohol-based solutions, or solvents, as these may damage the alarm's lovely look or its sensitive components.
- After cleaning, ensure the safety device is completely dry before reactivating or using it. Use a dry cloth to wipe away any remaining moisture.
